Obviously, going for a holiday in South Tyrol means mountains, nature, exercise and relaxation! Our little province provides plenty of that. But, let's be honest, holidays should involve a little partying, too! South Tyrol's top events – along with its traditional village festivals – are perfect for doing this. The (inter)national fetes and festivals, to be more precise. Here we go!
Art & culture
International artists and their works join forces with South Tyrol's historical culture scene. While
Asfaltart attracts street artists from all over the world, with
Transart the spotlight is on contemporary art and Italian culture – in multi-media fashion. Film screenings, exhibitions, performances and concerts take place at a variety of sites all over South Tyrol. At
Bolzano Danza, on the other hand, the dancing goes on for two weeks – and
Südtirol Jazzfestival does what its name suggests: different locations dedicated to jazz music! However, those wishing to experience some pure South Tyrolean folk music culture should definitely head for the Kastelruther Spatzenfest. And a truly extraordinary insight into cultural history taking you back hundreds of years may be had at
the Oswald-von-Wolkenstein-Ritt traditional horseback race in Kastelruth.
Movement & sport
And now to the event highlights for sports fans! Have you ever heard of the
Antholz Biathlon event? This is where world-class biathletes compete for medals and world cup points in the arena – but there's lots going on over in the festival marquee, too!
HERO Dolomites bike festival, on the other hand, is one of the toughest mountain bike races in the whole of the Dolomites. Whether as a winner, keen participant or active spectator, simply being there gives cause for celebration! But the prize for the 'highest' highlight goes to
Saslong Ski World Cup in Val Gardena-Gröden, where the world's top skiers whizz down the pistes. Music, South Tyrolean specialities and a great party mood accompany this sporting event, of course!
Culinary treats & enjoyment
South Tyrol and delicious food – and wine, of course! - go hand in hand. Along with the numerous restaurants, bistros, inns and mountain huts, world-famous food festivals invite you to savour and feast on their culinary treats.
Merano WineFestival, for example, where hundreds of wineries present their best wines and food from a variety of producers may be sampled and enjoyed! While the
South Tyrolean Speck Festival in Val di Funes-Villnöss is dedicated to – yes, you've guessed it – Speck, South Tyrol's cultural and culinary highlight. Of course, there's music, tradition and the odd tasty alternative to Speck as well :-)
So, what are you waiting for? Go and have some fun! One of
South Tyrol's Private Hosts will be able to provide the perfect overnight and holiday accommodation at any of the given event locations, of course!
